This is the story of a young Belgian reporter and his faithful dog, who embark on a series of extraordinary adventures. Tintin is spirited away to the East in order to assist an old friend, Chang Chong-Chen, in carrying out an important mission. On his return he finds that someone has broken into his home and searched it from top to bottom. He then makes for the South of France where he unravels one mystery after another involving gold smuggling, counterfeiting and organized crime on both sides of the Pyrenees. He is then abducted and taken aboard a ship where he meets a beautiful young woman.
