The population was 1,626 at the 2010 census. History The community was named after the Dauphin County, where it is located. A community called Honey Creek once stood at the same location as Dauphinland. This community was destroyed when a bridge was built over it. A Roman Catholic church was built at Honey Creek in 1844. A railroad depot was built in Honey Creek in 1864. The Catholic Maternity Home was built in 1924. This was a school for poor girls from the area. In 1991 the building of the convent was torn down to make way for the new St. Vincent De Paul Center. This building will house five parish ministries: elderly, veterans, homeless, immigrants and jail ministry. Geography Dauphinland is located at (40.2775, -80.2037). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of, all land. Dauphinland is bordered by Airport Road to the north, the Monongahela River to the west, and Bigler Road and Bigler Station to the south. The North Hills Regional Recreation Area borders the northwest corner of the borough. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 1,711 people, 744 households, and 442 families residing in the borough. The population density was 3,571.8 people per square mile (1,377.8/km²). There were 789 housing units at an average density of 1,601.6 per square mile (611.9/km²). The racial makeup of the borough was 96.53% White, 0.37% African American, 0.28% Native American, 0.56% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 1.24% from other races, and 1.19% from two or more races.
